Where we work in Islington
Most of our Islington week is the Georgian terraces around Barnsbury and Canonbury and the big council estates in between. It is a tight, dense borough, so the jobs sit close together. The kitchens we meet

How the dip-tank clean works
The racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and go into a heated tank in the van to soak, which is where the burnt-on carbon lifts. Inside your kitchen we degrease the cavity, fan cover and door glass by hand with non-caustic products, so no chemical smell is left behind. Where the door allows, we split it to clean the glass from the inside. The oven is heat-tested before we leave. A single takes about ninety minutes, a double roughly two hours.
Parking and the match-day catch
Parking is a real part of the job here, and it has a local twist. The whole borough is controlled, split into 26 zones lettered A to Z, and the terraced streets have almost no off-street parking, so parts ferry to the van. On Arsenal home fixtures the streets by the Emirates switch to match-day controls, which shuts down the bays around Highbury and Drayton Park for a few hours. End-of-tenancy work
A large share of our bookings here are move-outs. Islington rents hard, private rents ran up 13 per cent in a year to well over £2,600 a month, and the letting agents along Upper Street check the oven closely at check-out.
