Where the residents actually are
The Square Mile is mostly offices, so nearly all of our City work sits inside a handful of estates and a few newer towers. That means the Barbican and Golden Lane on the EC1Y and EC2Y edge, Middlesex Street and Mansell Street down by Aldgate, and blocks like The Denizen on Golden Lane or The Heron near Moorgate. Almost every kitchen is a flat kitchen. Integrated single ovens dominate, with the odd double where two flats have been knocked through, and freestanding cookers are rare this far into EC postcodes.
Small population, specific job.
The Barbican and its highwalks
The Barbican is a listed Chamberlin, Powell and Bon estate, and its total split between cars and people, the thing the architects called slab urbanism, is the reason a straightforward oven clean here needs a bit of thought. There is no vehicular access inside the estate; the roads and car parks sit below, and residents reach the flats along highwalks a storey or two up. So the racks, shelves and runners we lift out for the tank get carried down to the van at the periphery rather than wheeled to a kerb. Blocks such as Speed House and Thomas More House we know by name now.
Golden Lane and the Portsoken estates
Golden Lane, just north on EC1Y, is the older sister estate, also listed, with Great Arthur House as its tower and Crescent House running along Goswell Road. Consent rules there keep a lot of the original kitchen layouts, so eye-level cavities are common and the fan cover and door glass get the hand-degrease indoors. Down at Aldgate the picture shifts to council and housing-association stock: Petticoat Tower and Petticoat Square on the Middlesex Street Estate, both concrete blocks from around 1970, and the Guinness-run Mansell Street Estate off Portsoken. Higher tenant turnover there means more end-of-tenancy work, and a checkout oven clean is a common booking. Parking, the CPZ and the van
The whole City is a controlled parking zone, enforced Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday morning too, it sits inside the ULEZ, and the Congestion Charge applies on weekdays, all of which we factor in when we quote a time rather than surprising you with it. On the estate fringes we use loading bays and single-yellow windows; red routes near Aldgate and along the main arteries mean no stopping at all, so the van goes to the nearest legal spot and the parts travel the last stretch on foot. None of that changes your price. There is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
No chemical smell after, because the caustic soak stays in the tank and the cavity is done by hand.
How the clean works
The racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and soak in a heated dip-tank in the van. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and where the door design allows we split it to reach the film between the panes. Then the oven is reassembled, heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single takes about ninety minutes; a double runs closer to two hours. The service is a proper single oven clean whether your flat is on Golden Lane or in a new tower off Moorgate.

Common questions
Can you reach a flat on the Barbican with no road outside the door?
Yes. We know the estate has no internal vehicle access, so we park at the periphery car parks or a nearby loading bay and carry the oven parts in along the highwalk. It adds a few minutes, not to the price.
Do you clean the integrated single ovens in the newer towers?
We do. The Denizen, The Heron and similar blocks almost all have integrated single ovens, and those are our most common City job. The unit stays in place; only the removable parts go to the tank.
Will there be a chemical smell in a small flat afterwards?
No. The caustic soak is sealed in the dip-tank out in the van, and everything done inside the flat uses non-caustic products, so there is nothing lingering when you cook that evening.
Do I pay extra for the ULEZ or Congestion Charge?
No. The price you are quoted is the price. Any charge for the zone is ours to sort, and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
