Islington's design guidelines for the Mercers Road/Tavistock Terrace conservation area describe commercial frontages on Holloway Road with largely residential side streets behind, and buildings mostly put up in the 1850s and 1860s; they list houses to keep in Mercers Road, Tavistock Terrace, Yerbury Road, Fairmead Road, Highwood Road and Wedmore Street. In the census area the House of Commons Library calls Tufnell Park East, which takes in Foxham Road, Tytherton Road and Mercers Road, 52.9% of households lived in part of a converted or shared house in 2021, and only 16.4% in a purpose-built block. 45.7% owned their home and 29.7% rented privately.
A flat cut out of a Victorian house often has a narrow kitchen at the back, with a built-in single or a small freestanding cooker. Either way, the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors. The council flats in Wedmore Street
Upper Holloway's first council housing went up in Wedmore Street. In 1901 the London County Council bought eight semi-detached houses there as the site for Wessex Buildings, three blocks for 1,050 people, two finished in 1904 and the third in 1905. Two five-storey blocks with 46 flats followed around 1931, and by 1937 the LCC had 253 homes in the street. Weatherbury House, on Wedmore Street, is one of the blocks there today. Two hours of parking control in zone U
Islington's address lookup puts Foxham Road, Tytherton Road, Mercers Road and Wedmore Street in zone U, Junction South, which the council's zone table lists as controlled from 10am to noon on weekdays and at no other time. It has no Emirates match-day hours. That leaves most of the day free for the van, though yellow lines and the sign on the bay still apply. Station Road, home to the Bush Industrial Estate, is in zone R, Tufnell Park, controlled from 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays.

Is Upper Holloway the same as Archway?
They overlap, and both are N19; Archway is the junction at the top of the hill, under a kilometre north. The shops on the main road have their own Holloway Road page, and the streets towards Tufnell Park station are on the Tufnell Park page.
How long will it take?
About 90 minutes for a single and about 2 hours for a double, longer for a range cooker.
