Gas, induction or ceramic: what changes
Gas hobs are the bigger job: burner caps, crowns and pan supports come off and get degreased individually, and the price sits at the £28 end. Induction and ceramic hobs are flat glass, so the work is careful blade-and-polish rather than dismantling, at the £23 end. Either way the control knobs come off where they are designed to, because that is where the grease hides.
Burnt-on rings on a glass hob
The white-brown rings around the cooking zones are mineral and sugar deposits fused to the glass. Household cream cleaners smear them; a blade held at the right angle lifts them cleanly. It is quick work for someone who does it daily and easy to scratch the glass for someone who does not.
