The estates do most of the work
The Finsbury Estate off Skinner Street holds 451 homes across four blocks, and two of them, Michael Cliffe House at 25 storeys and Patrick Coman House at nine, are the ones our technician plans a job around. Emberton, Franck and Tardrew drew the estate in 1965 for Finsbury Borough Council, before Islington absorbed the borough, and the flats still have their original kitchen footprint: a narrow run with one under-counter single oven, electric, and no room to swing a tray. Add the Peabody Estate on Farringdon Lane, mostly social rented flats, and that is the bulk of our EC1 diary.
Conversions and the tech lets
The other EC1 kitchen is the warehouse conversion. Old print and workshop buildings off Clerkenwell Road and around Exmouth Market got carved into open-plan flats, which usually means a stainless island hob under a big recirculating hood, so we often clean the extractor hood in a Clerkenwell warehouse conversion at the same visit for £28. These are heavily let, often on one-year corporate tenancies, and the end of tenancy calls come with a check-out date attached.
Parking is zone C
Finsbury sits in Islington's zone C, the Finsbury Square and Farringdon Station zone, and the council has pushed the hours towards round-the-clock control here. We pay a bay on Skinner Street or Rosebery Avenue and walk in. Nobody gets a free kerb in EC1.

Do you use caustic chemicals in the flat?
No. The caustic side of the job stays in the sealed tank in the van. Indoors we use non-caustic products on the cavity, fan cover and door glass, so the flat does not smell afterwards.
What if the oven is in an open-plan kitchen?
That is most of the conversions here. We mat the floor, and because nothing aggressive comes out of the van, you can sit in the same room while we work.
Can you do a Sunday?
Yes, we work seven days. Weekend slots in EC1 go first, so ring ahead.
Is a check-out report enough to book from?

Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
