A Bosch oven door lifts off once both hinge locking levers are open: door flat, levers up, close to the stop, lift out. The top trim then frees the glass panes. Racks soak; EcoClean liners are never scrubbed. Allow about two hours by hand.
The door comes off at the hinge locks
Every Bosch drop-down door hangs on two spring-loaded hinges, each with a small locking lever. Oven cold, door flat, fold both levers fully up. Close the door to its limit stop, grip both sides, close it a touch further, then pull it out and clear. Bosch's manuals put the risk plainly: when the hinges are not locked, they snap shut with great force.
Not every model works this way. Some current ovens split in place: levers open, door resting at its angle, panes out with the door still hung. Bosch's advice is to check the manual for your E-number before assuming the door comes off at all.
Inner glass on Series 4 and 6 doors
Front-down on the towel, the top trim comes off first, and the fixing varies by model: on many Series 4 and 6 ovens the cover unclips when you press its left and right ends; older doors have a screw at each top corner. Lift the panes out one at a time, keeping order and orientation. On many current doors the condensate trough along the bottom edge tilts out too; it is usually the filthiest part.
Wash the panes with hot soapy water or a non-caustic degreaser and a soft cloth. Bosch warns off glass scrapers, stainless scouring pads and anything abrasive, because a scratched pane can crack in later use. Refit each pane bottom-first into its retainer, press it home at the top, click the cover on, then close both hinge levers. The manual is blunt: the oven is not used until the panels are correctly fitted.
That is the whole job.
Racks, side rails and telescopic runners
The side rails lift out in seconds: raise the front of the rail off its socket, unhook it, pull the whole rail towards you and out. Racks and rails do better in a long hot soak than scrubbed in place. Telescopic runners keep their slide grease, so wipe them pushed-in, never soak them, never dishwasher them.
Two rules from the manuals: pull-out rails come out before any pyrolytic cycle, and on EcoClean models the whole shelf support comes out when you unclip them, or the coating behind gets scraped.
EcoClean liners clean themselves, given heat
The rough matt panels in a Bosch cavity, the back wall at minimum and the roof and side walls on some models, are EcoClean Direct: porous ceramic that absorbs grease and breaks it down whenever the oven is hot. Bosch says the coating regenerates with every heat-up for the life of the oven. The smooth enamelled floor is the one interior surface meant for hand degreasing, done cold. The liners never see oven cleaner or a scouring pad, both wreck the coating; stray cleaner gets dabbed off straight away, never rubbed in. When dark patches build, run the EcoClean cleaning programme, preset to about an hour on typical models. - The catch on each hinge holding the spring tension: open for door removal, closed for cooking.

- Bosch's porous ceramic liner that absorbs and oxidises grease with heat. Ruined by caustic cleaner and abrasive pads.
- Condensate trough
- The channel along the bottom of the door that collects moisture; it tilts out for cleaning on many models.
- E-number
- The model code on the rating plate inside the door frame; it finds the exact manual for your oven.
Why will the door not lift off?
Usually one lever is not fully open, or the door is at the wrong angle; it releases close to the stop, not wide open. Some models hold the door captive, so check the manual before pulling harder.
Can the inner glass go in the dishwasher?
We would not risk it; coated panes and printed borders come off worse. A hot sink soak with washing-up liquid does the same work. Dry fully before refitting so trapped moisture cannot steam the panes.
Is the reddish staining on the back panel rust?
No. The manual calls them food residue part-way through breaking down, and says they do not limit the coating. Run the cleaning programme and let heat finish the work.
