A professional oven clean in London costs £77 for a single oven, £110 for a double and £143 for a 90cm range cooker, fixed on the phone before the visit. A single takes about 90 minutes on site. The racks are soaked and cleaned separately while the inside of the oven is cleaned by hand, and the oven is heated and checked with you before we leave, so you can cook in it that day.
The terms in plain words
- Split door
- Many oven doors come apart into their panes of glass, which is how grease that has crept between them can be reached. The door is split where its design allows.
- Catalytic panel
- A self-cleaning coating on the back or side walls of some ovens. Which? says it absorbs grease while the oven is hot and breaks it down so it is easier to wipe away. Bosch and NEFF manuals say never to use oven cleaner on it.
- Pyrolytic cycle
- A self-clean programme that heats the empty oven to around 500°C, according to Which?, and turns soiling to ash.
- Lit-oven sign-off
- The last step of a visit: the oven is reassembled and heated, and you look inside before we pack up. If a corner is not right, we put it right before we leave.

What decides the price?
The appliance: a single, a double, a range or an AGA, priced from the list above. The price is fixed on the phone before the visit, and a weekend visit costs the same as a weekday one.
What does the price include?
The oven taken apart as far as its design allows. Racks, trays and side runners are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand; the door is split where its design allows. Then the oven is put back together, heated and checked with you. Hobs, hoods and microwaves are priced separately, as above.
Is there a charge for cancelling?
Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before the visit.
Questions about the visit
What do I need to do beforehand?
Let the oven cool, take out anything you store in it, and sort out somewhere for the team to park. We also need a working socket. An AGA is switched off the night before. The preparation checklist has the detail.
Do I have to stay in?
Someone lets us in, and someone looks inside the lit oven at the end. For an empty rental, keys can be picked up by arrangement.
Will there be a mess?
Dust sheets go down before anything comes apart, and the oven is put back together, heated and checked with you before we leave.
How soon can I cook?
Straight after the visit. The oven has already been heated as part of the sign-off.
Are the technicians vetted?
Yes. They are insured and DBS-checked.
Do you work weekends?
Seven days a week. The phones are answered 8am to 7.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm at weekends, on 020 8077 5225.
Questions about chemicals and safety
Is shop-bought oven cleaner dangerous?
It is corrosive. McBride's 2017 safety data sheet for Oven Pride lists 10% to under 20% sodium hydroxide, carries the signal word "Danger" with hazard statements for severe skin burns and serious eye damage, and advises gloves and eye protection. A study of calls to the UK National Poisons Information Service between 2009 and 2015 counted 796 enquiries about oven cleaners. Most people had minor symptoms and about 4% had moderate or severe ones, but skin burns, mostly on the hands and arms, followed 44% of skin exposures.
What happens in my kitchen?
Most of the work. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are cleaned by hand there, and the door is split where its design allows. Some teams have a heated tank on the van and use it when they can park close; otherwise everything is done in your kitchen. The price is the same either way, and you can ask which applies when you book.
Can a dirty oven catch fire?
Built-up fat can. The London Fire Brigade says around 60% of fires in the home start in the kitchen, and it tells households to clean the oven, hob, cooker hood, extractor fan and grill regularly because accumulated fat and grease can ignite.
Will cleaning damage the enamel or the door seal?
Bosch's manual for its HBG6764 oven lists what to avoid: oven cleaner in a warm cavity, abrasive cleaners and hard scouring pads, and scrubbing or removing the seal. The indoor work is done by hand on a cool oven. A clean cannot repair enamel that has already chipped or a seal that has already perished.
Self-cleaning ovens, AGAs and range cookers
Does a pyrolytic oven still need a professional clean?
Sometimes. The cycle deals with the cavity walls, but Which? notes that racks and side runners often still need cleaning by hand and that the heat can discolour the inside of the door glass. The cycle also uses power: Which? puts the average at about 5 kWh per clean, and Bosch's manual for one pyrolytic model gives 2.5 to 4.7 kWh. The pyrolytic guide compares the two routes.
What about a catalytic oven?
Keep oven cleaner off the catalytic panels. Bosch and NEFF manuals say never to use oven cleaner on them, and Which? advises no cleaning products on catalytic walls at all, as they can be damaged.
Can you clean an AGA?
Yes: £143 for a two-oven AGA and £187 for a four-oven. It has to be switched off the night before, and a two-oven AGA takes about half a day. AGA's own guides rule out oven cleaner and abrasive pads on the enamel. The AGA cleaning page covers the visit.
Do you clean range cookers?
Yes. A 90cm range is £143 and takes 2 to 3 hours on site; a 100cm range is £167.
Questions from tenants and landlords
Can my landlord make me pay for a professional clean?
Not as a charge of its own, in England. The government's Tenant Fees Act guidance for tenants lists the fees a landlord or agent is allowed to charge (rent, a refundable deposit, a refundable holding deposit, and a few others such as utilities, late rent and replacement keys) and says a fee that is not on the list is not allowed. A professional clean is not on it, and the guidance adds that a landlord cannot make you start a contract for a service as part of your tenancy. How often is cleaning the reason for a deposit claim?
More often than anything else. The Deposit Protection Service says cleaning was the most common reason for deposit claims in 2025, at just over 29% of claims, and the most common in each of the last five years. The guide to oven cleaning and deposits covers the evidence side.
Can the invoice go to the letting agent?
Yes. Invoices can be addressed to the agency, photos for the checkout file are available on request, and keys for an empty property can be picked up by arrangement.
