Wormwood Scrubs is Hammersmith and Fulham's largest open space, and there are no homes on it: about 18 hectares are tree cover and 22 hectares long-grass meadow, all designated local nature reserves.
Homes on the edge of the Scrubs
Along the southern edge stand the prison, finished in 1891 by convict labour, and the Hammersmith Hospital campus. The houses begin west of the prison. The London County Council bought the land for its Old Oak Estate in 1905 and built it in two goes, west of the railway in 1912 and 1913 and the eastern half between 1920 and 1923; the finished estate had 1,056 homes. Braybrook Street, Wulfstan Street, Erconwald Street and Fitzneal Street belong to it, and from Braybrook Street you look straight at the prison's Grade II listed cell blocks.
Next to it, Hammersmith Borough Council built the Wormholt Estate from 1919. By 1926 there were 600 houses on 50 acres between Old Oak Common Lane, Steventon Road and Bloemfontein Road, on streets such as Sawley Road, Wormholt Road and Yew Tree Road. Both estates sit in the Old Oak and Wormholt conservation area, designated in 1980.

Weekday-only parking in zones N and V
The Old Oak Estate and Du Cane Road are in Hammersmith and Fulham's zone N, and the Wormholt streets down to Collingbourne Road are in zone V. The council lists both as controlled Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. A weekend visit costs the same as a weekday one, and on Saturday and Sunday the bays in both zones are free to use.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
