Woodside is built around Woodside Green, a triangular green of about 4.75 acres that has been kept as open space since 1871, and the residential streets ringing it are where most of our CR0 work sits. The housing is largely Victorian terraces with newer blocks of small flats mixed in, so we see a lot of single ovens and freestanding cookers, with the odd double where a family has knocked the kitchen through. Two Tramlink stops serve the area, Woodside and Blackhorse Lane, and the Woodside stop uses the old booking office building that still straddles the tracks from the former Elmers End to Addiscombe railway line.
Every clean runs the same way. Racks, shelves, trays and the side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so no chemical smell is left in the kitchen. The door is split where the design allows so the inner pane comes clear. Then the oven is heat-tested and signed off before the technician leaves.
The flats off Portland Road
Portland Road runs away from the green toward South Norwood with its shops, pubs and the swimming pool, and the newer flats along that stretch mostly carry integrated single ovens built into the run of units. Those are quick, about ninety minutes, and the door glass on an integrated model usually cleans up well once the inner pane is split out. Parking by the green
Parking is easier here than in the tighter parts of Croydon. The streets round Woodside Green have room, and near Ashburton Park the roads open up, so the van and the tank fit without much fuss. Norwood Junction to the north is the nearest rail station if a technician is coming in without the van.

No. The caustic soaking is done in the tank in the van. Indoors it is non-caustic products by hand, so the oven is usable that same evening.
Can you clean an integrated oven in a Portland Road flat?

How long will it take?
A single oven is about ninety minutes. A double runs nearer two hours once both cavities and every shelf have been through the tank.
