The Woodlands Tavern, at the corner of Woodlands Road and St John's Road, began as the Railway Inn, built in 1849-50 on a plot sold by Mrs Frances Goodenough after the Hounslow loop line opened on 22 August 1849.
An 1850 railway suburb on Woodlands Grove
The Woodlands Estate was laid out in 1850, south of Isleworth station, as one of the borough's first railway suburbs. The building boom came in 1857-1863, after the Duke of Northumberland gave land next door for St John's Church (1855), a parsonage, almshouses and a school (1859), all now listed Grade II. Woodlands Road and Woodlands Grove still follow the original layout, with semi-detached pairs and detached villas in late Georgian, Neo-Tudor and Italianate styles, and the two streets became the Woodlands Grove conservation area on 2 November 1999.

Interwar and postwar houses south of the old streets
South of the conservation area, Hounslow's appraisal describes two large interwar and early postwar estates of two-storey houses. Sussex Avenue, Woodland Gardens, Abinger Gardens and Gibson Close are on that side. The Woodlands Estate Resident Freeholders' Association, a charity registered in 1974, keeps community premises with open space and sports courts at 35 Woodland Gardens.
Those figures are for the census area that covers Sussex Avenue, Woodland Gardens, Abinger Gardens and Gibson Close (Hounslow 019E). Another 36.6% lived in a terraced house, and only 13.1% in a purpose-built flat, so the area is mostly houses.
Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, on top of dust sheets.

The price depends on the cooker, and it is fixed on the phone before the visit: name the type (single, double, range) and that is the figure you pay.
Parking on Woodlands' streets
Hounslow's parking map shows no controlled zone along Sussex Avenue, Woodland Gardens or Woodlands Grove, and none on most of Abinger Gardens, Gibson Close and Woodlands Road. Part of Gibson Close lies in the Twickenham RFU zone, which applies 7am to 11pm on event days only, and the St John's Road end of Woodlands Road is in the Linkfield Road area zone, controlled 10am to noon and 5pm to 7pm on weekdays. The council treats that map as guidance only, so a sign at the end of the road still wins. The team needs somewhere to park.

It sits between the two. The postcode is TW7 and the old estate grew up around Isleworth station, but the council puts these streets in its Hounslow South ward.
