The William Morris Gallery on Forest Road is the Water House, which dates from 1744 and is listed Grade II*; Morris lived there from 1848 to 1856, and its old garden, moat and all, is now Lloyd Park.
The Water House and Lloyd Park
The park takes its name from Edward Lloyd, the newspaper owner who bought the house in the 1850s. His son gave the house and grounds to the Walthamstow council in 1898, the park opened in 1900, and the gallery followed in 1950. The moat in the park is thought to be what is left of Winns, an older house on the site, and a Grade II K6 telephone box stands by the gallery gates.
Warner half houses west of the park
In 1898 the Warner company bought the Winns estate to build on the land west of Lloyd Park, all of it to let; by 1901 the company had 2,184 weekly tenants. The street names come from the estate's past. Winns Avenue and Winns Terrace remember John Wynne, who lived here from 1498 to 1521, Diana Road is named after Lady Leucha Diana Maude, T. C. Warner's wife, and Bemsted Road after the manor of Higham Bensted. Since 8 September 2015 houses in these streets, with Badlis Road, Mersey Road and 391 to 529 Forest Road, have formed the Lloyd Park conservation area.

So the street looks like terraced houses and the census count is mostly flats. In the small census area round Winns Avenue, Diana Road and Badlis Road (Waltham Forest 012E), only 127 of 893 households lived in a whole terraced house in 2021; 479 lived in a purpose-built block of flats or tenement and 233 in part of a converted or shared house, and the council's appraisal says half houses make up most of the buildings in the Warner area. 54.6% owned their home and 27.2% rented privately.
For an upstairs Warner flat, mention the floor and the private staircase when you call. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are done in the kitchen by hand, and dust sheets go down first, which matters in a small kitchen.

Parking zones round Lloyd Park
The council's March 2026 zone map shows several zones round Lloyd Park with different hours. Winns Avenue (WA) is controlled Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm. Lloyd Park West (LPW), by the gallery, runs every day from 8am to 9pm, so a Sunday is no help there. The signs at each end of your street have the final word. Which area does William Morris cover?
It is a council ward that takes in the gallery, the Warner streets west of Lloyd Park, William Morris Close and the southern end of Higham Hill Road. Higham Hill is to the north-west and Chapel End to the north.

How long does a single take?
