Willesden Junction station opened in 1866, and the London and North Western Railway housed some of its own staff nearby: on Harley Road in Harlesden, and in 1889 in a small estate of cottages off Old Oak Lane.

The cottages sit in a corner of Ealing between two sets of railway lines, just north of the Grand Union Canal. The cottages are in Ealing's North Acton ward. Scrubs Lane and the College Park streets to the east are in Hammersmith and Fulham, on the way to Old Oak Common.
On the Brent side, in the small census area around Honeywood Road and Station Road, the southern edge of Harlesden, 40.6% of the 709 households in 2021 lived in part of a converted or shared house and 40.5% rented privately. A flat in a split house usually means a compact kitchen up a flight of stairs. Mention the floor when you call.
