A granite cattle trough has stood at Widmore Green, where Widmore Road meets Plaistow Lane, since 1904. A local doctor, Herbert Smith, pressed for it, and the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association opened it on 6 August that year. It was listed Grade II in 2006 and is used as a planting bed now.

The hamlet Hasted described

In 1797 Edward Hasted named Plaistow and Widmore as the two main hamlets of Bromley parish, each with several genteel houses. In Widmore he picked out a mansion called Bickley, built by John Wells of Deptford, and another, Shawfield, built by John Harrison. A road just east of the green is called Shawfield Park.

Closer to the town, Bromley's 2025 conservation area appraisal describes Widmore Road beyond St Blaise Avenue: a row of Arts and Crafts houses in gardens on the south side, two of them (Nos. 56 and 60) locally listed, with tall stock-brick Victorian villas facing them.

Flats by the green, detached houses along Bickley Road

The census splits Widmore sharply. In the small area around the green and Shawfield Park, 378 of 784 households (48.2%) lived in a purpose-built block of flats in 2021, and 79 more in a flat inside a converted house. In the next census area east, around Bickley Road and St George's Road West, 446 of 542 households (82.3%) had a detached house.
