Widmore Green sits at the junction of Widmore Road and Plaistow Lane, with The Oak pub on it, and that green marks the old hamlet the whole place grew out of. Most of our Widmore work falls into two eras. There are the tall Victorian houses from the 1880s along Widmore Road and Freelands Road, many now split into flats reached by a shared stair, and there is the 1920s and 1930s housing built south of Widmore Road on land that had been part of Bromley Palace. The name Widmore is old, from Withmere, first written down in 1226.

In the 1880s conversions the kitchen is often a narrow galley with a single oven, and a good few are lets, so an end of tenancy clean is the usual booking. In the interwar houses on the old Palace land the kitchens are bigger and we find more doubles. The job shifts by street.

Widmore runs right up to Bromley town centre, and the Bromley Town controlled parking zone, with its A, B and C zones, reaches the streets nearest the High Street, so on the Widmore Road end we sometimes wait for a bay while the rest of the residential roads are free at the kerb. All of BR1 is inside the London-wide ULEZ. There is no call-out fee here and no premium for the postcode, because Widmore is inside the North and South Circular for our pricing.
