Whitehall Court went up in the mid-1880s, its residential half designed by Alfred Waterhouse, and people still live in it behind a Grade I listing. The street itself is government. Almost nobody cooks on Whitehall proper. The kitchens are in the mansion flats a few yards off it: Whitehall Court, Whitehall Place, and the 85 residences carved out of the Old War Office at 57 Whitehall when it reopened as The OWO.
Integrated German ovens are the norm here
Kitchens in this stock are fitted rather than freestanding. The OWO flats went in with Gaggenau appliances in an anthracite finish, and the Corinthia residences at Whitehall Place sit at a similar level. Mostly single integrated ovens, with the Gaggenau doubles at Whitehall Place turning up often enough. Racks, shelves and side runners come out and soak in the heated tank in the van, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so nothing is left smelling of chemicals in a flat where the windows may not open far.
Parking is the part that costs the time
Whitehall is the A3212 and it runs as a red route, so the van cannot sit on it at all. We use Westminster bays on Whitehall Place or Great Scotland Yard instead, and the parts get carried the rest of the way. Westminster runs six controlled parking zones and this is inside the Congestion Charge zone, £18 a day since 2 January 2026. We absorb both.

Lettings churn sets the calendar
St James's ward, which takes in Whitehall, had 12,482 residents at the 2021 census, and a fair share of these flats are lets or pied-a-terres rather than family homes. So the work is end-of-tenancy timing: an oven booked between a checkout and an inventory clerk. A single takes about ninety minutes. A double, around two hours. Heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Will it leave a smell in a flat with sealed windows?
No. Anything caustic stays in the tank in the van. Indoors it is non-caustic products by hand on the cavity, the fan cover and the glass.
Do you charge more because it is SW1A?
No. A single oven is £77 in Whitehall and £77 anywhere else we cover, and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
Can you clean a Gaggenau without marking the finish?
Yes, and those fronts are exactly why we keep caustic products out of the flat. We check the model first, because enamel liners and pyrolytic coatings get handled differently.
