The four-storey Board school on Durward Street, built in 1876–7 for 828 children beside Whitechapel station, has been flats since 1996–7.

E. R. Robson designed the school for the School Board for London on a cramped site, so it went up four storeys where the Board usually built three, with an open ground floor of arches as a covered playground. It closed in 1911, and its arches were later bricked in for a ships' chandlery, a cabinet works and a basket warehouse. The Spitalfields Trust stepped in when the council was close to pulling it down in 1989–90. Renamed Trinity Hall, it was converted for Ballymore into 18 flats, a figure reached by inserting mezzanines into the tall schoolrooms.
Whitechapel West, further along Durward Street, came out of a failed plan. Between 1972 and 1988 the council and London Transport worked on a shopping centre for the land north of the station, at one stage "loosely based on a Brent Cross/Arndale theme". After it collapsed, Tower Hamlets Community Housing built this estate, opened in 2003: two- and three-storey, faintly neo-Georgian terraced houses mixed with blocks of flats on Durward Street, Vallance Road, Wodeham Gardens and Trahorn Close, which has a small railed circular garden.
A terraced house with its own front door is simple to work in: the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, on dust sheets. Two-thirds renting privately by the station
In the census area around Whitechapel station, north of Whitechapel Road (LSOA Tower Hamlets 013C), 66.2% of the 718 households rented privately at the 2021 Census, against 24.9% who owned and 8.5% in social housing. 69.3% lived in a purpose-built block and 9.7% in another kind of converted building, for example a former school, church or warehouse.

Parking zones either side of Whitechapel Road
Whitechapel Road divides the council's parking sub-zones. North of it, Vallance Road, Brady Street and Fulbourne Street by the station are in A3, controlled Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 5.30pm. South of it, Turner Street, Newark Street and Philpot Street around the Royal London Hospital are in C3, and Fieldgate Street and Greenfield Road further west are in C1; both are controlled Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, on the council's zone page. Sunday falls outside the controlled hours on both sides of the road.

Yes. We work seven days, weekends cost the weekday price, and Sunday is outside the parking controls in A3, C1 and C3.
I live in Wodeham Gardens with a double oven and a gas hob. Can both be done at once?
Yes. The double is £110 and a gas hob is £28, cleaned on the same visit.
Does the oven need to be cold when you arrive?
It should be cool. Turn it off well before we are due, and keep a working socket free near the kitchen.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
