White City is flats far more than houses, and that decides the ovens we meet. The Television Centre conversion on Wood Lane, the old BBC headquarters turned into hundreds of apartments across The Helios and The Crescent, is fitted throughout with integrated single ovens, as are the newer blocks around Imperial College's White City campus. Estate flats and the new towers
The other big block of work is the White City Estate, the 50-acre London County Council estate laid out in the late 1930s, with roads named for the old empire exhibition: Australia Road, India Way, South Africa Road. Those flats have ordinary freestanding cookers and older built-in singles, often years past a proper clean. One postcode, the full range of oven ages.
Parking is the honest snag. The whole area sits in Hammersmith and Fulham controlled zones, the streets near White City station and Westfield fill up early, and the Television Centre blocks run their own access and loading arrangements. The racks go to the tank regardless, so a permit street or a loading bay changes the timing, not the job.
How the dip-tank clean works
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell in a small flat afterwards. The door is split where the design allows, then the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single is about ninety minutes.

Is the parking around Westfield and White City station a problem?
It is tight, but it does not stop us. The parts soak in the van while the technician works, so a controlled bay just sets the slot.
What sort of ovens are on the White City Estate?
Mostly freestanding cookers and older built-in singles, many years past a full strip-down, so the clean pulls a lot off the door glass and runners.
Will a small flat smell of chemicals after?
No. The caustic soaking is all in the tank in the van, so even a compact kitchen is fine to cook in that evening.
