The Totteridge and Whetstone CPZ started back in April 2016 on Hayward Road, Birley Road and Naylor Road, and it runs a short window of 2pm to 3pm, which tells you most of N20 is no parking headache for a van. Off those station streets the roads open into 1930s semis and larger detached houses, nearly all with a driveway. That matters to us. It means a short carry from your kitchen to the tank, so the shelves and runners are soaking within a couple of minutes of us arriving.
The ovens we find in N20
Two kinds of kitchen dominate. The interwar semis run mostly freestanding double ovens or built-in singles. Up toward Totteridge Lane and the greener plots, where property values sit among the highest in London, we get more range cookers and the occasional two-oven AGA in a proper family kitchen.
An AGA cannot go in a dip tank. We clean it in place, cast-iron parts and enamel by hand, and our two-oven AGA clean is £143 and takes the best part of a session. Range cookers we split the door on where the design allows, so the inner glass comes up clear.
A driveway means the racks are soaking within minutes, not carried through half the street.
How the dip-tank clean works
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after. The oven is heat-tested before we leave. Nothing caustic touches your worktops.

Questions we get from N20
Do I need to worry about the CPZ when I book?
Rarely. The Totteridge and Whetstone zone only enforces 2pm to 3pm, and most of the semi and detached roads have driveways anyway, so the van parks close.
Can you clean an AGA that stays on?
Yes. We ask you to turn it off ahead of time so it is cool, then clean the enamel and cast-iron parts by hand in place. It cannot go in the tank.
What if my oven has not been touched in years?
That is normal in a family kitchen. The soak in the tank does the heavy lifting on baked-on grease, so even a neglected double comes up properly in one visit.
Do you charge more for the Totteridge end?
No. Prices are fixed on the phone. Where you sit in N20 makes no difference to what you pay.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
