Westminster is our densest ground and one of the wealthiest. A morning might be a two-oven AGA in a Georgian house off Mount Street in Mayfair, the same afternoon an integrated single in a red-brick mansion flat on Sutherland Avenue up in Maida Vale. The kitchens we meet

The stock changes with the street. The prime pockets, Mayfair and Belgravia and the Howard de Walden streets of Marylebone, run to large period houses, which is why we clean more AGAs and Rangemasters here than in most boroughs. Above the shops and along the mansion-block avenues, the flats are lateral and high-ceilinged, often up a lift and behind a porter, so an integrated single oven is the usual find and the racks travel a good way to the van. Then there is the other Westminster: the Lisson Green estate off Lisson Grove and the social blocks around Church Street ward, which hold one of the highest concentrations of council housing in the borough.

How the dip-tank clean works

Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell left in the room after, and where the door is built to allow it we split it to clean between the glass. Every oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single takes about ninety minutes, a double roughly two hours, an AGA longer again for the enamel and cast iron.

Parking, permits and the charge zone

Parking is a real part of the working day here, and Westminster runs some of the tightest kerbs in London. The controlled hours bite hard, single yellows are restricted through the day, and many streets carry a loading ban marked by kerb blips where you cannot even stop to carry parts in. Two things matter for us. The congestion charge covers everything south of Marylebone Road, so Mayfair, Marylebone, Soho and Belgravia sit inside the £18-a-day zone, while Maida Vale and the top of Paddington fall outside it. Move-outs and mansion-flat lets

A large share of the bookings here are lets changing hands. The mansion blocks around Maida Vale and Marylebone turn over constantly, and the serviced flats across Mayfair are handed back on a check-out inventory where the oven is a line item that can decide the deposit. Letting agents from Warwick Avenue down to Marylebone High Street hold the oven to that inventory. If you are handing keys back, the fixed price list is what the check-out clerk will measure you against, and the appliance sets the figure, never the postcode.

No. The price follows the appliance, not the address. A single oven is £77 whether it sits in a Belgravia house or a Bayswater flat.

Can you clean an AGA or a Rangemaster?

Yes, we clean plenty across the borough. A two-oven AGA is £143 and a 90cm range is £114, both cleaned without caustic on the enamel.

Do I pay the congestion charge or ULEZ?

No. Our vans meet the ULEZ and we cover the congestion charge for the zone ourselves, so neither reaches your bill.

Is there a call-out fee?
