West Ruislip station opened on 2 April 1906 under the name Ruislip & Ickenham, built by the Great Western and Great Central Joint Railway, and it stands on Ickenham High Road on the border between Ickenham and the western edge of Ruislip. It has four platforms and sits in fare zone 6, one of the two western ends of the Central line, with Chiltern Railways running the National Rail side and weekend trains out to Aylesbury.
The airbase turned into an estate
The Ministry of Defence site next to the station was leased to the US Air Force in 1955 and to the US Navy from 1975, and it held the Navy Exchange along with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation department until the Navy began pulling out on 30 June 2006. Hillingdon approved around 415 homes and a retirement home in July 2007, almost every building came down that year, and the 21-acre site went to Cala Homes for £180m that November. Cottesmore House was finished in October 2011 and the last of the Ickenham Park homes in 2013.

Homes finished between 2011 and 2013 are built to a pattern: an integrated oven at eye level or under the counter, a separate hob, and a hood ducted through the cabinet above it. The hood is the part that gets left. Adding the extractor hood in an Ickenham Park kitchen to an oven booking is £28.
HS2 surfaces on this side
The West Ruislip Portal is where the high speed tunnels from Euston come back up to an open alignment, built as cut and cover, and tunnelling from West Ruislip through to Greenford finished in March 2025. Demobilisation has been running since, including taking the conveyor bridge down. There is a Central line depot here as well, reached off the Chiltern main line.

Both work. The station end runs into UB10 towards Ickenham and HA4 back towards Ruislip, and either is on the round.
Where does the soaking happen?
Out in the van, in a heated tank. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to it and come back cleaned.
Is the kitchen usable straight after?
Yes. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave, and the products used indoors are non-caustic.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
