Four roads near West Harrow station are named after headmasters of Harrow School: Vaughan Road, Butler Road, Sumner Road and Drury Road. They belong to the Bessborough Estate, which a 2024 council report says was built on three farms, Honeybun, Roxborough and Roxeth, with its streets begun in 1898 and substantially complete by 1911.
West Harrow Village, a locally designated group of streets
Harrow Council's page on Local Areas of Special Character lists West Harrow Village, covering Butler Avenue, Lance Road, the recreation ground, Heath Road, Butler Road, Drury Road and Vaughan Road. A May 2024 council report first proposed Butler Avenue, Lance Road and the recreation ground, and a 2025 consultation added parts of the other roads. The designation leaves permitted development rights alone, but any change that needs planning permission has to protect the character of the streets. St Peter's Church on Sumner Road, built from 1911 to 1913 to designs by Fellowes Prynne, has been Grade II listed since 1980.
The census area that includes Sumner Road, Lance Road, Heath Road, the Honeybun streets and parts of Butler Road and Drury Road (Harrow 024C) had 665 households in 2021. Of those, 36.8% lived in a terraced house, 28.1% in a semi and 25.1% in a purpose-built flat. In a terrace of this age the kitchen is normally at the back of the house, with dust sheets down before anything comes out.
East of the station, round Bouverie Road, Butler Avenue and part of Bessborough Road (census area 024A), 28.8% of households lived in part of a converted or shared house and 46.1% rented privately. Honeybun, the council estate east of Lance Road
The Victoria County History lists Honeybun, 202 houses and bungalows between Roxeth and Harrow town, among Harrow's interwar council estates. The council's parking map still uses the name: zone HS is "Honeybun Estate South" and takes in Charles Crescent, Kings Close, Wood Close and Pool Road. Council renting is higher here than in the ward as a whole: in census area 024C, 14.9% of households rented straight from the council in 2021, against 5.4% across West Harrow ward.

Parking zones in West Harrow
The council's parking map (read on 5 October 2026) splits this corner into several small zones. The streets beside the station, such as Wilson Gardens and Heath Road, are in the West Harrow zone. The Gardens, north of the line, is zone W1, controlled from 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. The east end of Vaughan Road and part of Butler Avenue make up zone V and the Honeybun streets zone HS; both are controlled from 10am to 11am and from 2pm to 3pm, Saturdays included. Sumner Road and Lance Road lie outside the zones on the map.
The council's CPZ page says the times on the street signs are the ones to follow, so check the plate on your road. The team needs somewhere to park.

Yes. It can be addressed to the agency, with photos for the checkout file on request, and keys for an empty flat can be collected by arrangement.
