Wennington holds about 300 people, strung out as ribbon development along Wennington Road, the B1335, near where it meets New Road, the A1306, and the A13. The Metropolitan Green Belt surrounds it, open country runs north and east, and Wennington Marshes to the south are now part of the RSPB's Rainham Marshes reserve. Only the approach from Rainham is built up.
A twelfth-century church and a farmhouse
St Mary and St Peter's on The Green dates from the 12th century. Wennington Hall farmhouse stands near the Wennington Road and New Road junction, and the ground beside it went through archaeological assessment after a square enclosure showed up as a soilmark on 1960s aerial photographs. Scattered houses make up most of the rest. Route 372 is the bus, and Rainham and Purfleet are the nearest stations.

Around eighteen houses were lost here on 19 July 2022, and demolition of the shells finished in March 2023. Rebuilding was approved and residents were back in the replacement homes by July 2025, which in oven terms means a stretch of this village now runs on new-build kitchens, where an integrated single sits under the counter rather than the freestanding cooker older stock tends to carry. A new oven still carbons up. Enamel takes it faster than people expect once a roasting tin has spat a few times, and the door glass goes first. A ribbon village on a B-road is straightforward for a van. The tank and the water travel with us, so nothing is wanted from your kitchen but the oven. Will cleaning a fairly new oven damage the coating?
It should not. Nothing abrasive goes near a catalytic or pyrolytic liner, and the products used indoors are non-caustic.
Do you take the door apart?
The glass is split where the design allows, so the film between the panes comes off rather than being left where you can see it. Some doors are sealed and cannot be.
Can you clean the hob and microwave while you are here?
Yes. A hob is £23–28 depending on type and a microwave £22, both added to the same visit. We work seven days.
