The Rock and Fountain on Rock Hill served Well Hill for years and then closed on 1 July 2007; the Grade II listed building was sold and converted into a private house, and the hamlet has had no pub since. Plenty of listings still show it as one.

BR6 is the Orpington post town, but Well Hill is not in Bromley. It sits in the civil parish of Shoreham, in Sevenoaks District, in the Sevenoaks constituency, on the Kent side of the Greater London boundary at grid reference TQ495639. Its electoral ward is shared with Crockenhill to the north, and yet the settlement itself falls in Shoreham parish rather than Crockenhill's. Swanley is 3.5 miles north. Chelsfield Village is about half a mile off.
Lanes with no lighting and no pavement
Well Hill is a handful of small crossroads on minor country roads, most of them without street lighting or a pavement, single track for stretches and lined with trees. Knockholt is the nearest railway station at 1.4 miles. There is no parade to park behind and no bay to pay for, so the useful thing is to tell us the lane and the nearest junction when you call.
Detached houses, big gardens, and the cookers that go with them
The housing is detached, on fairly large plots with trees, and past the last of it there are farms, open fields and heavier woodland. Stock like this runs to freestanding range cookers and the occasional AGA far more than to integrated singles, and there is very little here that turns over on a tenancy. A 90cm range cooker on Well Hill Lane is £114. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van, while the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so nothing is left smelling of chemicals.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
