Watford oven cleaning from £77 by London Oven Cleaners; you inspect the hot oven before we pack up, and a missed corner is cleaned again on the spot.
Watford's first railway station opened in 1837 in what is now the Nascot conservation area, and through the 1860s much of the Earl of Essex's land between the railway and Hempstead Road was sold off for building.
Watford's housing, from Nascot to Garston
Nascot was the first large area built away from the High Street. Nascot Road, Stamford Road, Cole Road and Langley Road were laid out on old farmland in the 1860s, with terraces at the east end of Langley Road and larger detached houses towards the west, some of them put up by the Watford Villa Company. Bedford Street nearby is tighter terraced housing. The council made Nascot a conservation area on 22 January 2001.
West of the centre, the Cassiobury estate went to auction in June 1922. The house was pulled down in 1927. The council had bought parkland in 1909 and bought more for the public park in 1930, and the site of the house was eventually built over with suburban housing; Cassiobury has its own page. North of the centre, new roads went into Callowland early in the twentieth century, and in the 1920s, as council house building resumed after the First World War, the Harebreaks estate in North Watford was developed.

Close to the station the town is mostly flats. In Central ward, which takes in the town centre and the streets by Watford Junction, 46.2% of households lived in a purpose-built block at the 2021 Census and 13.8% in a converted house. Across the borough the mix is wider: 28.8% purpose-built flats, 28.1% semi-detached houses, 24.8% terraces and 10.5% detached.
The wards differ sharply. Park ward, which takes in the Cassiobury streets, had the borough's highest share of detached houses in 2021 at 37.7%, with Nascot next at 27.3%. Leggatts, which includes the Harebreaks, is half semi-detached (51.4%), and Callowland is half terraced (50.7%).
Renting near the station
Watford is mainly owner-occupied. Of its 39,629 households in 2021, 55.1% owned their home, 28.2% rented privately and 15.6% rented from the council or a housing association. In Central ward the private share was 54.9%, more than half. Many of those lets end with a checkout inventory, and the oven is part of it.
For agents and landlords the invoice can go to the agency, photos for the checkout file are taken on request, and keys for an empty flat can be picked up by arrangement. Tenants can read the end of tenancy oven cleaning guide before the inventory.

Watford parking zones that run until 10pm
Watford's controlled parking zones are lettered, and their hours vary a lot. Zone A, which takes in Station Road and part of Clarendon Road, is one of seven (A, B, C, E, G, J and K) controlled every day from 8am to 10pm, bank holidays included. Zones D, F, L, MN, S and T run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm, and F, L, MN, S and T add controls on Watford FC first-team match days. Zones U, W, X and Y are controlled for just two hours on weekday mornings.
In the seven all-day zones even a Sunday visit needs a visitor voucher or a paid bay; residents there have a standard allowance of 980 visitor hours. In the two-hour zones, a visit booked after the window avoids the question. Tell us your zone letter and we will find the nearest legal space.
Range cookers in the larger houses
- 90cm range cooker
- A freestanding cooker about 90cm wide, often with two ovens side by side and a grill. £143, two to three hours on site.
- 100cm range
- The same idea, wider. £167.
- Two-oven AGA
- A cast-iron heat-storage cooker that is normally left on. £143; it is switched off the night before so it is cool when we arrive, and the clean takes about half a day.
The detached houses on Langley Road and around Cassiobury are the sort where a range or an AGA is more likely. There is more on AGA cleaning on its own page.
Watford oven cleaning questions
Which parts of Watford do you cover?
The whole town, from Watford Junction and Nascot Wood up to Garston and Leavesden. The area pages are listed below.
Is a match day at Vicarage Road a problem?
It can be in zones F, L, MN, S and T, which add match-day controls. Give us the date and the visit can be timed around kick-off.
Can you come on a Sunday?
Yes, seven days a week, at the weekday price. In the all-day zones the van still needs a voucher or a paid bay on a Sunday.
How long does a double oven take?
About two hours. If a corner is not right when you inspect the lit oven, we put it right before we leave.

What customers tell us
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
