Our Wandsworth Town work splits two ways. On one side are the Victorian terraces off Old York Road, where the cooker is usually freestanding and the grill compartment has not been touched since the last tenant handed the keys back. On the other side are the Ram Quarter flats, built around the listed Young's brewery buildings on the Wandle, where the kitchens run to integrated units in tight cabinet housings and the fan cover has to come off before the back panel means anything.

The van matters, because the racks and shelves soak in it while we work indoors. Wandsworth Town sits under council subzones W1 to W4, and several of those streets run a one-hour permit-holder control from 10.30am to 11.30am on weekdays, which is a short window but long enough to cost us a bay if we arrive at the wrong end of it. Barmouth Road and Garratt Lane carry pay-and-display rules on top. We plan around it. SW18 is inside the ULEZ and our van is compliant, so nothing from that lands on your bill.

Ram Quarter has 338 flats, and nearly all of them came with an integrated single oven fitted by the developer, so most of the checkout jobs we take in those buildings are a straight single oven clean at £77 and about ninety minutes. The letting agents along Old York Road and around Southside book the same thing week after week. Larger houses towards Wandsworth Common are where the range cookers turn up.
Do you need to take the oven out of the housing?
No. The door is split where the design allows, the racks and side runners come out to the tank, and the cavity is cleaned by hand in place. Integrated units stay in their cabinets.
Will the flat smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The caustic stays in the tank in the van. What we use indoors is non-caustic, and the oven is heat-tested before we sign it off and leave.
Can you park at the Ram Quarter?
Usually yes, if you tell us at the booking which building you are in. Some blocks there have a loading bay we can use; others need a visitor bay arranged with the concierge.
