A large share of our E17 work is in Warner property. Thomas Warner built those from the 1880s as half houses, two flats behind one terrace front with an entrance arch and two front doors, and the ground-floor ones usually have a freestanding cooker squeezed into a narrow galley kitchen. The upstairs Warner maisonettes are much the same. Parking near the market and the station
Walthamstow Central is the end of the Victoria line, and the market runs the length of the High Street a couple of minutes from it, so the streets round there are tight on a trading day. We ask which turning you are on and whether you sit in a permit bay, because carrying the dip-tank kit any distance in E17 is the job's real friction, not the oven itself. The tank heats in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass get cleaned by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no smell left in the kitchen.

Do you clean cookers in the Warner flats?
Yes, they are a big part of the round here. The galley kitchens are tight, but the racks, trays and shelves lift out and soak in the van tank, so we work clean in a small space.
Can you come on a Saturday when the market is on?
We work seven days. We just need to know your street and parking so we can plan around the High Street crowds.
How long does a single oven take?
About ninety minutes. A double is nearer two hours, and we heat-test it before we go.
Is the whole job done in the flat?
No. The removable parts go into the heated tank in the van. Only the hand degreasing of the cavity and glass happens indoors.
If the oven has not been touched since the last tenant, expect the tank to earn its keep.
