The Eleanor Cross stands where the High Street meets Eleanor Cross Road, one of only three survivors from the twelve Edward I ordered after Eleanor of Castile died in 1290, and it was finished before the end of 1294. The town centre reopened in December 2025
The regeneration project completed on 1 December 2025, bringing new pedestrian crossings at Monarchs Way, a shared cycle path, pocket parks and new lighting to the pedestrianised stretch. The Wednesday, Friday and Sunday markets went back to their original High Street pitch in early 2026. Fishpools has been selling furniture on this High Street since 1899.

Do you charge extra for coming out to Hertfordshire?
No. The price is quoted on the phone before we book and it does not move afterwards. Fixed price, no premium-area surcharge.
Do you need my sink or my kettle?
No. The heated tank and the water are both in the van. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to it; the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The soaking all happens outside in the van, and what we bring indoors is non-caustic.
Is this enough for an end-of-tenancy inventory?
Yes. The door glass is split where the design allows, which is the part the clerk actually looks at, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
