Victoria Square, about 50 metres south of the Royal Mews, was built in 1838-40 to Matthew Wyatt's design and named for the new queen; its stucco houses are listed Grade II*.

Westminster's summary of the Grosvenor Gardens conservation area calls Victoria Square a calm residential enclave of stucco terraces, smaller than its neighbour. Grosvenor Gardens itself was set out in the 1860s by Thomas Cundy III: tall terraces in a flamboyant Renaissance style, two triangular gardens with mature trees between them, and three small mews behind.
Houses of that age usually had the kitchen in the basement. Where a family kitchen is still down there, the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are cleaned in the basement by hand. Dust sheets go down first, and the door is taken apart where its design allows.
The Nova flats on Buckingham Palace Road
Across Buckingham Palace Road, Land Securities finished Nova in 2016-17 on the island between Buckingham Palace Road, Bressenden Place and Victoria Street: two office buildings and a 13-storey block of 170 flats. A flat this new usually has its oven built into the kitchen units.
The census catches both. Output area E00023946, which takes in Nova, Victoria Square and part of Grosvenor Gardens, had 246 households in 2021. Of those, 73.6% rented privately and 17.1% owned their home, and only 13 households had a terraced house. With that much renting, tenancy checkouts are common here. Agencies can have the invoice in their name, photos for the checkout file on request, and keys for an empty flat collected by arrangement.

Parking near Victoria Square and Nova
Victoria Square and Grosvenor Gardens are in zone A, which Westminster lists as Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Pimlico; on the council's zone map they are sub-zone A2. In A2, under the table that took effect on 2 March 2026, paid bays and single yellow lines are controlled 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays and 8.30am to 1.30pm on Saturdays. The streets around Nova were zone H, and the council says zone H no longer exists on-street because of the Victoria Station development works.
Westminster runs no on-street visitor permit scheme, so in controlled hours a visiting van pays for a bay by app or phone, with a maximum stay that is usually four hours. You can also read the council's zones and prices page.

Is a Saturday afternoon easier for parking near Victoria Square?
Yes. On the zone A side, paid bays and single yellow lines stop being controlled at 1.30pm on Saturdays, and a weekend clean is charged at the weekday price.
My flat is let through an agency. Who pays?
Whoever books. The invoice can be addressed to the agency, with photos for the checkout file if they want them.
Are flats on Buckingham Gate on the same terms?
Yes, the same fixed prices and the same visit. Buckingham Gate is in parking zone D, where the paid bays are controlled on weekdays only.
