Churchill Gardens in Pimlico is 1,600 homes across 32 blocks, built between 1946 and 1962 to Powell and Moya's design, and it runs on the Pimlico District Heating Undertaking, a network that now pushes hot water through about 5km of underground pipes to roughly 3,250 homes including Lillington Gardens and Abbots Manor. District heating covers the radiators. It does nothing for the oven.
Three kinds of kitchen in four postcodes
The estate flats in SW1V are compact and fitted, so it is normally a single oven with a four-ring hob above it, and people often add hob cleaning at £23–28 while we are there. The mansion blocks are another story: Ashley Gardens went up between 1890 and 1893 around Thirleby Road, Ambrosden Avenue and Emery Hill Street, some blocks eight storeys tall, and those flats have real kitchens with room for a double or a range. Then there is the short-let and corporate stock in SW1E off Victoria Street, which turns over fast and books at check-out.
Vauxhall Bridge Road is a line that matters
The western edge of the Congestion Charge zone runs down Vauxhall Bridge Road, so a good part of Pimlico sits outside the charge while Victoria Street, a few hundred metres north, sits inside it. Either way the price you are quoted does not move, because we do not add a premium-area surcharge and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular. On the kerb we are in Westminster's Zone D, which covers Victoria, Westminster and Millbank.
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out to the heated tank in the van. Indoors it is hand work only, non-caustic, on the cavity, fan cover and door glass, so there is no smell left behind in a flat where the kitchen window opens onto a lightwell.

Can you get the van to a Churchill Gardens block?
We park in a legal bay and walk the parts out. Lift access covers the taller slabs, and the tank never needs to leave the van anyway.

Around two hours. A single is about ninety minutes, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Do you work weekends?
Seven days. Check-out cleans in SW1E tend to want a Friday or a Saturday, so those slots fill first.
