Vauxhall Bridge Road was laid across market gardens in 1816-18 as the approach to the new Vauxhall Bridge, which opened in 1816, and it still forms the eastern edge of the Lillington and Longmoore estates.

Many of the blocks were listed in 1998 and 2000.
Longmoore Gardens, between Warwick Way and Charlwood Street, was finished in 1980 by the council's own architects to sit beside it. Lillington's third phase reaches its upper flats by raised walkways that the council's audit calls streets in the sky, with parking set underneath.
On an estate like this the route from the front door may run along a walkway and up a lift or stairs, so mention the floor when you book. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in the flat. Dust sheets are down before the oven is opened.

Parking near Lillington and Longmoore Gardens
Both estates sit on the Pimlico side of Vauxhall Bridge Road, in Westminster's zone A; the council's zone map puts them in sub-zone A1, and the streets across the road in zone D. From 2 March 2026 paid bays and single yellow lines in both zones are controlled 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays only. The only road through Lillington Gardens is Moreton Street, an unadopted road reached through an arch from Tachbrook Street, and Westminster's resident permits do not apply on council-managed estates.
