Cross Vauxhall Bridge into Pimlico and the kitchens change street by street. The white stucco terraces Thomas Cubitt laid out, along St George's Drive, Lupus Street and Cambridge Street, tend to hold freestanding range cookers in the raised-ground and lower-ground kitchens. The mansion flats around Warwick Square and Eccleston Square run smaller built-in ovens. Then there is Dolphin Square, and the riverside towers over the water at St George Wharf, which are almost all integrated singles.
Parking here is genuinely tight. This is Westminster Zone A, controlled through the day, and because the Cubitt terrace streets are narrow with resident bays that fill early and the riverside towers keep their loading bays busy, we plan the van run before we set off rather than circle the block on the day. Racks, shelves and side runners come out to the heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass we degrease by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after in a mansion-block kitchen with the door shut.
A Cubitt terrace basement kitchen and a Dolphin Square flat are two different jobs at the same price.
Period terraces and riverside flats
The bigger range cookers in the terraces take longer than a built-in single. If you have a wide 90cm model, our range cooker clean is £114 and runs a bit past a standard single. Churchill Gardens, the Powell and Moya estate in the south-west corner, is more freestanding cookers again. The riverside towers are the quick ninety-minute single jobs.

We do. Those are mostly integrated single ovens, so the £77 job, done in about ninety minutes with a heat-test before we leave.
How do you manage parking in Zone A?
We sort the van ourselves and factor the tight bays into the booking. You do not need to hold a space on a Cubitt terrace street.
Is there a smell in a small mansion flat afterwards?
No. The caustic soak stays in the tank in the van. Indoors we work with non-caustic products by hand, which matters in a compact flat with one door to the kitchen.
