Car-free blocks and permit zones in UB8
The 2016 approval for flats on the upper floors of Armstrong House was subject to a legal agreement so that residents could not apply for parking permits, and the council's 2017 report on the 103-flat scheme recommended the same, with no parking spaces for the flats. Homes in a development restricted in this way cannot get resident permits or visitor vouchers, according to the council's permit pages.

Pyrolytic programme or a hand clean?
Some newer built-in ovens have a pyrolytic setting. It heats the empty cavity far hotter than cooking does and turns grease to ash, which then has to be wiped out; the racks, trays and side runners have to come out first, and the space between the door panes still needs a separate clean.
