Oven cleaning in Upper Sydenham, SE26, from Sydenham Hill down to Wells Park Road and Kirkdale. Dip-tank method, seven days a week, single ovens from £77.
The Sydenham Hill conservation area was designated in 1976 and Lewisham splits it into three character areas that could hardly be less alike: Mount Gardens, detached houses on ground enclosed from Sydenham Common between 1810 and 1820; Mount Ash Road, identical three-storey byelaw terraces facing each other down both sides; and Lammas Green, a 1950s City of London scheme of three terraces round a village green, Grade II listed in 1998.
The hill sorts the housing into three
Add the Victorian mansions strung along Sydenham Hill itself, put up when the Crystal Palace was re-erected here in 1854 and described by the council as ostentatious, and you have four kitchen types inside one short walk. Sydenham Hill tops out at 112 metres. Not much of London is higher.
Villa kitchens and conversion kitchens are different jobs
A surviving villa on the hill tends to have the room for a wide cooker, and a 90cm range is £114 against £77 for a single, so a range cooker in a Sydenham Hill house is worth quoting properly rather than guessing. Where the same villas were carved into flats the kitchen is whatever fitted the back half of a reception room, usually a built-under single with a hob over it. The Mount Ash Road terraces are three storeys of the same plan repeated, so the cooker sits in roughly the same spot in each one.
The van parks on a gradient
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out of the oven and go into the heated tank in the van, which is why the gradient and the parked-up kerbs on the hill matter more to us than to you. Indoors it is hand work on the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass with non-caustic products, then a heat test before we sign it off and go. Upper Sydenham has had no station of its own since 20 September 1954, when the Crystal Palace High Level line shut; the old booking office still stands on Wells Park Road as a private house. No call-out fee, and no premium for an SE26 hill address.

Questions from Sydenham Hill
Do you clean AGAs?
Yes. A two-oven AGA is £143. It needs to be off and cold before we start.
Is anything in the conservation area a problem for you?
No. The Article 4 direction on Mount Ash Road covers alterations to the buildings, not what happens inside your kitchen.
How long does a double take?
About two hours. A single is nearer ninety minutes.
Do you take the door glass apart?
Where the design allows it, yes, which is usually what makes the difference on a letting inventory.

Said after the sign-off
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
