Eel Pie Island is a footbridge job
There are roughly fifty homes on Eel Pie Island and no vehicles at all, because the only way across is the footbridge from the Embankment. The van stays on the mainland. Racks, shelves and trays go over the bridge in a crate, into the tank, and back again, which adds twenty minutes each way to a job that would otherwise be routine. The cottages there run small freestanding cookers and the odd narrow built-under single, and the kitchens are as tight as you would expect on a river island where every wall was added by somebody who lived there.
The van stays on the mainland. Everything else walks.
The riverside itself is a building site until 2027
Water Lane and Wharf Lane are up in superstructure now, with 45 new homes going in either side of the re-provided Diamond Jubilee Gardens and completion pencilled for winter 2027. Those flats will all have integrated single ovens, and we will be cleaning them. For now the practical effect is on parking and on the walk in from King Street with a crate of runners.
Central Twickenham is CPZ zone D, controlled Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 6.30pm, which is a longer leash than the 10am to 4.30pm zones further out and the reason we usually suggest a Sunday for the Church Street flats. You get the same fixed prices on Eel Pie Island as on King Street, and no call-out fee either side of the bridge.

Common questions on the riverside
Do you actually come out to Eel Pie Island?
Yes, regularly. Give us the house name when you book as well as the postcode, because the numbering on the island is its own thing and the footbridge is the only way on.
Is there a smell afterwards in a small flat?
No. The caustic dip happens in the tank in the van. Indoors we use non-caustic products on the cavity, fan cover and door glass, so a one-bed on Church Street is fine to cook in that evening.
How long for a single oven?
About ninety minutes. Add the bridge walk if you are on the island.
Can you park during the riverside works?
Usually within a couple of streets. Zone D is controlled until 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, so weekend afternoons and Sundays are easier, and we will tell you on the phone if a slot looks tight.
Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
