The compact Victorian terraces packed around the 1900 clock tower, where the High Street meets Brigstock Road and Parchmore Road, are where most of our CR7 mornings go. These are narrow-fronted houses with a back kitchen and a freestanding cooker, and a good share of them have been carved into flats or run as HMOs, so the ovens see hard, constant use. Further out from the tower the stock changes to bigger Edwardian and 1930s houses.
Around the clock tower it is terraces and freestanding cookers; further out the houses get bigger and the ovens double up.
Thornton Heath station sits on the Brighton Main Line, zone 4, with trains to London Bridge and Victoria, and the rental churn that comes with that is why so much of our work here is end-of-tenancy. When a tenancy ends, the oven is what the inventory clerk photographs first.
What is behind the door
The terrace kitchens near the High Street run older freestanding single ovens, sometimes a 90cm range crammed into a galley that leaves us edging the trays out sideways. The larger houses toward Norbury Road and the Edwardian streets more often have a double oven, and a few of the un-split family homes keep a range cooker. New-build flats near the station tend to have integrated singles. We carry tank space for all of it.

Parking and how we work
Croydon has a Thornton Heath permit zone, and the streets off the High Street get tight, so we check parking before the van leaves. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in the tank; the cavity, fan cover and glass we clean by hand indoors with non-caustic products. Every oven is heat-tested before we go.
