The Moorings blocks around Bentham Road
Bentham Road, Carlyle Road and Galsworthy Close sit close to Birchmere Park, north of Eastern Way, and Titmuss Avenue runs through the Moorings. That was the Greater London Council's Phase 3, built in the 1970s: interlocking concrete mid-rise blocks with lower brick terraces below them. The blocks are named after liberals, Labour figures and philanthropists, from Tawney to Keynes.
The blocks are mid-rise, so many kitchens are above ground level. Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen. Dust sheets go down first.

The census area that covers these streets (Greenwich 001) had 2,596 households in 2021. 62.7% rented from a social landlord (54.7% of all households from a housing association or similar) and only 13.3% rented privately; 21.9% owned their home.
