Syon Lane began as a medieval route, was turnpiked in 1767 and straightened twelve years later. Where it crosses the Great West Road you get Gillette Corner, and the Grade II listed Gillette Building standing on it was designed by Sir Banister Fletcher and put up in 1936-37 as the razor company's European headquarters, with a tall brick tower carrying an illuminated four-faced clock. Over a thousand people worked there in 1958.
The station turned up 81 years after the line
Southern Railway opened Syon Lane station on 5 July 1931, eight decades after trains began running past the spot. It has never had a building, just a shelter on each platform. Zone 4, with two trains an hour to Waterloo via Brentford and two to Weybridge via Hounslow off-peak. It went step-free in December 2020 when a footbridge with a lift went in, and it handled 0.869 million entries and exits in 2024-25.
Flats are going up where Homebase was
The Homebase on Syon Lane shut in April 2024 and came down that October. St Edwards Homes has consent for 164 flats across five blocks there, 54 one-bed, 65 two-bed, 40 three-bed and 5 four-bed, which Hounslow Council is buying for social rent. Flats of that build carry an integrated cavity under the worktop, so most are a single oven at £77. Older houses off the Golden Mile more often run a double at £110.
The tank never comes indoors
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated dip tank in the van. Cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, so nothing lingers in a small flat afterwards. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go. No call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.

Is Syon Lane in Brentford or Isleworth?
The lane runs through both. The station sits in Isleworth, with Spring Grove and New Brentford either side, and the Gillette Corner end reads TW8. Give us the postcode.
Do you cover the Sky and Tesco side?
Yes. The Tesco hypermarket and Sky's headquarters stand on the old MacFarlane biscuit factory site behind the Gillette building, and the roads around them are in our area.
Does the Great West Road cause you problems?
Not really. We work out of the van and need a bay within carrying distance of your door, not a space on the A4 itself.
Can you do a landlord changeover?
Yes, seven days a week. Ovens get heat-tested and signed off, which is the bit an inventory clerk usually wants.
