Sunnymeads station stands at the end of a private road, with no car park and no cycle rack, and it has been unstaffed since 1969. It is 22 miles and 48 chains down from Waterloo, an island platform with eight seats and a footbridge. That is close to the whole of Sunnymeads.
Sunnymeads is an estate name, not a village
Being straight about it saves you a phone call. A company called Sunnymeads Estate Limited started advertising riverside bungalows here in 1923, the Southern Railway put a stop in on 10 July 1927 to serve the buyers it expected, and the village those buyers were supposed to fill never really arrived, so what was once a separate settlement has since been absorbed into Wraysbury next door. If your address says Sunnymeads, it almost certainly says Wraysbury too. We cover it either way.
Twenty-seven thousand journeys a year
The station recorded 27,266 entries and exits across 2024/25, one of the lowest counts of any station in the South East, and that is with two trains an hour to Waterloo via Richmond and two to Windsor and Eton Riverside. The stock nearest the station is Welley Road and the lanes off it: 1920s riverside bungalows, some of them timber, on plots that sit inside the Environment Agency's River Thames at Wraysbury flood warning area. Single-storey riverside bungalows tend to mean small kitchens and a freestanding cooker rather than a run of integrated units, and professional oven cleaning in a room that size is easier when the soaking happens outdoors.
