Sudbury Town station was rebuilt in seven months, from December 1930 to July 1931, to Charles Holden's design: a tall brick box with a flat concrete roof, the prototype for his Piccadilly line extension stations.
Sudbury Town sits on the Brent and Ealing boundary
The station was opened by the District Railway on 28 June 1903, and the Holden building has been listed since 19 February 1971, now at Grade II*. The list entry puts it in Ealing. Its address on Station Approach is HA0, though, and the roads on its north side, Station Crescent, District Road and Harrow Road among them, are Brent. West of the station the houses are mostly UB6 and Ealing: Sudbury Heights Avenue, most of Whitton Avenue East and the western end of Allendale Road. Housing east of Horsenden Wood
The Victoria County History account of Greenford lists the ground north and east of Horsenden Wood among the areas developed before 1935, and says nearly all the building of the thirties in the parish was speculative.
Most homes are still owner-occupied. In the census area the House of Commons Library calls Horsenden (MSOA Ealing 002), which takes in these streets, 66.3% of the 2,929 households owned their home in 2021, more than half of them outright, and 30.0% rented privately. Only 3.0% rented from a social landlord. 43.7% lived in a terraced house, 34.9% in a semi and 10.0% in a purpose-built flat.
