Sudbury and Harrow Road was the least used railway station in Greater London in 2023/24, on 18,680 entries and exits, a figure that came up to 22,952 in 2024-25. The trains barely run. Comben and Wakeling built the semis
The Sudbury Court estate went up between 1928 and 1934, built by Comben and Wakeling on land sold by Captain E.G. Spencer-Churchill, and it runs to roughly 1,700 Tudor-style semi-detached houses. That is the dominant stock around here, three-bed family houses off one builder's pattern book. Kitchens in a house of that size often carry a tall housing with two cavities stacked, which is a double oven at £110 and about two hours.
The parade came before the streets
Sudbury Parade was built in 1907 opposite Barham Park, and the roads near the stations followed between 1907 and 1910. Sir George Barham, who founded Express Dairy, had bought the Copland estate in 1895. Density tells the rest: 2.3 people an acre in 1921, 9.8 by 1931, 18.7 by 1951.
