Stratford International station opened in November 2009, and despite the name no international train stops there; its platforms serve Southeastern's high-speed trains between St Pancras and Kent, and the DLR has run in since August 2011.
Tower flats beside the station
The homes nearest the platforms are recent and tall. Manhattan Loft Gardens, a 42-storey tower by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, has 248 loft flats above a 146-room hotel, with three sky gardens part way up. Lendlease's Glasshouse Gardens, two towers at the southern edge of the Olympic Park, has another 333. Then there is East Village, the athletes' village from 2012, where residents have been moving in since November 2013. It now has over 2,800 homes. A flat built in the last fifteen years usually has an integrated oven in a fitted run of units, at eye level or under the hob. On that kind of oven the inner door glass and the fan cover go brown first. Parking in the East Village zone, seven days a week
The streets round the station and East Village are in Newham's East Village resident parking zone, brought in during March 2015. Its permit hours on the council's zone table are 8am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday, so a weekend booking does not get round them. Without a permit you can pay by phone in some bays during those hours. Private roads and car parks belong to the landlords and keep their own rules. Give us the block name when you book, because the team needs somewhere to park.

Not in this zone. Permit hours run every day, so the parking is planned the same way on any day, and a Sunday costs the weekday price.
My oven has a pyrolytic setting. Is a clean still worth it?
The cycle burns grease in the cavity to ash at a very high heat, but the racks and runners normally have to come out before it runs, and the glass between the door panes is left alone. There is a longer comparison of pyrolytic self-cleaning and a professional clean.
How long does a built-in double take?
About two hours, against about 90 minutes for a single. The oven needs to be cool when we arrive.
