Most of the villas around Stockwell Park Road went up between 1825 and 1840, detached, semi-detached or in terraces of a few houses, each in its own garden. Lambeth made the streets a conservation area in 1968 and extended it in 1972 and 1980.

The census does not break out the villas on their own. Across Stockwell East ward, which takes in the station, 20.5% of the 4,714 households at the 2021 Census lived in a flat inside a converted or shared house, and 62.6% in a purpose-built block; just 8.0% had a terraced house of their own. Stockwell Green, a separate conservation area of about 80 properties, is fronted by early to mid 19th-century houses.

Stockwell Park and the other estates
Lambeth Archives describes the Stockwell Park Estate as a large council housing project built around 1970 between Brixton and Stockwell. Wikipedia lists it among the main social housing estates built in the area in the second half of the 20th century, with Stockwell Gardens, Lansdowne Green, Studley, Spurgeon and Mursell. Across Stockwell East ward, 36.4% of households rented from a social landlord in 2021, most of them from a housing association rather than the council, and 33.7% rented privately.
Stockwell and South Lambeth are also known as Little Portugal; most of Stockwell's Portuguese community come from Madeira and Lisbon, and have set up cafes, bakeries and associations. At the 2021 Census, 9,009 Lambeth residents, 2.9% of those aged three and over, gave Portuguese as their main language.

Parking near Stockwell station
Lambeth's parking FAQ lists the patterns its zones can use: all-day controls from 8.30am to 6.30pm, and part-time controls from 10am to 4pm, which are aimed at commuters parking near stations.
