A dual carriageway made this a separate village
Stanwell Moor sits roughly a mile west of Stanwell, and the two were one place until the early 1960s, when a dual carriageway, the A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, cut between them and the Moor hived off with a community hall of its own and its own residents' association. It stayed in the Stanwell North ward and it is still tied to the same Church of England parish. The Anchor is on Horton Road, TW19 6AQ, next to the parade of shops. The 442 runs through, linking Heathrow Terminal 5 with Staines-upon-Thames.
The village runs straight out into an SSSI
The River Colne is the western boundary, and the M25 is beyond that. Staines Moor is 117 hectares of common inside a Site of Special Scientific Interest of some 515 hectares, and the village falls within the Colne Valley Regional Park. The King George VI and Wraysbury reservoirs are the other neighbours. Terminal 5 is a mile northeast.
Seventy-eight flats in the whole village
The 2011 count found 187 terraced houses, 184 semi-detached, 94 detached, 78 flats and one caravan. Owner-occupation is high for the area: 25.5 per cent outright, 47.5 per cent with a loan.
