Both of Stanmore's big housing sites were RAF stations
RAF Stanmore Park shut on 1 April 1997 after nearly sixty years, and the Ministry of Defence put the 35 acres up for disposal the following January; what went onto it was private houses and flats with a quarter of the units affordable, green corridors kept through to Temple Pond, and one old RAF building left standing as the community centre on Elliott Road. Up the road, Bentley Priory did the same thing later. The Grade II* mansion that Sir John Soane remodelled, and that ran Fighter Command through the war, was decommissioned in 2008, bought in 2011 by City and County with Barratt Homes, and turned into a museum plus eight apartments, with ninety-five new homes built in the grounds where the disused RAF structures had been.
So the kitchens split cleanly. Late-1990s and 2000s estate housing on one side, mostly built-in, which is a double oven clean at £110 or a single at £77. Older detached Stanmore on the other, where a range cooker or a cast-iron two-oven job is a real possibility and the price changes accordingly.
The parking rule here is one hour long
Stanmore CPZ Zone B is unusual. On the controlled stretch of Gordon Avenue the hours run Monday to Friday, 3pm to 4pm, and nothing else, because the problem being solved was all-day commuter parking rather than shoppers. Round the station there is pay and display on Brockleyside, Court Drive and London Road. Either way the van needs somewhere to sit within carrying distance, since the tank does not come indoors.

Yes. A two-oven AGA is £143 and takes most of a morning, because cast iron holds grease in a way a domestic double never does.

No. Everything caustic happens in the tank outside. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
