Leadale Road crosses a borough line: its Craven Park Road end is in Haringey, postcode N15 6, and its southern end is in Hackney, N16 6. The Tottenham side of the hill
In the mid 19th century several mansions stood on the Tottenham side of the boundary at Stamford Hill, Coleraine House, the Shrubbery and Sherborough House among them. By the mid 1890s the last open ground along the High Road had been built on, though a few old houses still stood beside it at Stamford Hill. The landmark today is the Church of St Ignatius on the west side of the High Road, built between 1894 and 1902 to designs by Father Benedict Williamson, in red brick with twin west towers and listed Grade II. Its listing still calls it St Ignatius, Stamford Hill. The station a little to the north opened on 1 May 1871 as South Tottenham and Stamford Hill and dropped the second half of its name in 1949.
Big households between Crowland Road and the boundary
The Census area that takes in Crowland Road, Gladesmore Road, Craven Park Road and the streets down to Hackney (MSOA Haringey 029, which also reaches a few streets west of the High Road) had 2,163 households in 2021. 261 of them, 12.1%, had eight or more people under one roof, against 1.0% across Haringey and 0.9% across London, and 23.0% had six or more. Most homes are houses: 43.1% terraced, 11.1% semi-detached and 7.0% detached, with 20.2% in a purpose-built block of flats. Half the households, 50.0%, rented privately.
Haringey has written planning guidance for households like these. House Extensions in South Tottenham, first adopted in November 2010 and revised on 15 October 2013, is meant for residents with large, extended families who want to extend their homes and stay in the community. It applies from Crowland Road south to Craven Park Road, and from the High Road east to Markfield Recreation Ground and the Lea, and it sets out three approved ways to build at roof level.
More cooking puts more fat on the oven floor, the fan cover and the inside of the door. A large household may run a range cooker with two cavities side by side, or a built-in double, and the clean takes longer. Shelves, the grill pan and the side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; indoors the cavity, fan cover and glass are worked by hand over dust sheets, and the door is split where its design allows.

A two-hour weekday window on both sides of the boundary
On Haringey's zone map, Wellington Avenue, Elm Park Avenue, Gladesmore Road, Lealand Road, Crowland Road and the Haringey part of Craven Park Road are in the South Tottenham zone, controlled only from 10am to noon, Monday to Friday. Hackney uses the same two hours across the line. Castlewood Road, Ravensdale Road, Egerton Road, the N16 end of Leadale Road and the Hackney end of Craven Park Road are in its zone Y (Stamford Hill East). Around the Broadway the sign may read zone T (Stamford Hill), W (Stamford Hill West) or Y; Hackney's zone page gives all three as 10am to midday on weekdays. Haringey's list of zone hours says parking is free outside a zone's hours. An afternoon slot, or a weekend one at the weekday price, misses the controls. By St Ignatius, west of the High Road, the Seven Sisters South zone runs from 8am to 6.30pm on weekdays, so check the sign there.

Is my street in Haringey or Hackney?
Mostly, N15 postcodes here are Haringey and N16 postcodes are Hackney, though a handful of N15 postcodes at the edge, such as the east end of Craven Park Road, are in Hackney. Leadale Road is both. The price is the same on either side; the parking sign is set by a different council.
We cook on a 90cm range for a big family. How long will it take?
Two to three hours on site. Tell us if it has two ovens and a separate grill, so the time is booked properly.
Can you come in the morning?
Yes. Between 10am and noon on weekdays the bays here are controlled, so give us the street name when you call and we plan where the van can wait.
What do you need from us on the day?
A working socket, the oven switched off early enough to be cool when we arrive, and space near the door for the van.
Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
