Stamford Brook Road is a borough boundary. The common and the streets south of it are in Hounslow; the houses along the road's north side are in Hammersmith and Fulham.
Mansion blocks round Stamford Brook Common
The land south of the common belonged to Chiswick's prebendal manor and passed to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners in 1882. In 1898 the architect and surveyor J. A. Gill Knight took a lease of about 12 acres there for mansion flats and semi-detached houses aimed at comfortable middle-class tenants. The scheme did less well than expected, partly because the station did not open until 1 February 1912, and the area was not completed until after the First World War. Hounslow made the area a conservation area on 13 January 1998.
Mansion blocks of three and four storeys went up between 1901 and 1905. Stamford Brook Mansions and Linkenholt Mansions stand at the Goldhawk Road end of Stamford Brook Avenue, and Ranelagh Gardens and Hauteville Court Gardens frame the avenue nearer the common; the middle of the north Ranelagh block rises to five storeys. The two-storey semis and short terraces of Vaughan Avenue, Pleydell Avenue and Prebend Gardens followed between 1907 and 1933.
The census still shows that split. In the census area covering these streets and running west to Flanders Road (Hounslow 001D), 42.2% of the 687 households lived in a purpose-built flat in 2021 and 22.9% in a semi, and 33.5% rented privately. Across Stamford Brook Road, round Hartswood and Emlyn Roads (Hammersmith and Fulham 008C), 52.0% of households had a semi and 74.2% owned their home.

Parking either side of Stamford Brook Road
Hounslow's appraisal says the front spaces, particularly those of the earlier houses, are too shallow to be turned into parking, and it proposes resisting any new crossovers, so the van parks in the street. Which rules apply depends on the side of the road:
- Stamford Brook Avenue, Pleydell Avenue, Prebend Gardens, Vaughan Avenue and South Side: Hounslow's East Chiswick zone, 9am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday
- The north side of Stamford Brook Road, with Hartswood, Palgrave and Emlyn Roads behind it: Hammersmith and Fulham's zone I, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
- Just east of the station: Hammersmith and Fulham's zone M, also 9am to 5pm on weekdays
Hammersmith and Fulham says parking is free outside a zone's controlled times. Hounslow calls its zone map guidance and says to check the signs and lines on site; do the same on the Hammersmith and Fulham side.

The station, the common and the streets south of Stamford Brook Road are Hounslow. The station's main entrance is on Goldhawk Road with a second one on Prebend Gardens. North of the road and east of the station is Hammersmith and Fulham, and Ravenscourt Park has its own page.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, at the weekday price. On the Hammersmith side Saturday is outside zone hours. On the Hounslow side the East Chiswick zone runs until 7pm, so tell us how visitors park on your street; Sunday is uncontrolled on both sides.
Can the hob be done at the same visit?
Yes. A gas hob is £28 and a ceramic hob £23; a single oven with its hob and extractor together is £117.
I let a flat on Stamford Brook Avenue. How does a checkout clean work?
