Southfleet counted 918 people at the 2011 census, and the civil parish takes in the hamlets of Betsham and Westwood alongside the village. It sits in the borough of Dartford rather than Gravesham, though Gravesend is the post town. The Church of St Nicholas goes back to the 14th century and carries memorials to the Sedley, Swan and Peyton baronets. The Ship Inn is at the middle of it.
A 918-person parish and a 145-acre neighbour
On 1 July 2026 Clearstone put out early plans for the Ebbsfleet AI Data Centre Campus: 145 acres of farmland either side of New Barn Road, between Southfleet and Northfleet, 300 megawatts, roughly 60,000 square metres of building. The Secretary of State directed on the same day that it be treated as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, which means a Development Consent Order rather than an ordinary application. Consultation is pencilled for autumn 2026, the application for 2028, and 2030 is the target to switch on. None of it is built. What is there today is a village.
There has been no station here since 1953
Southfleet had its own on the Gravesend West Line from 1886 to 1953. Longfield, 2.3 miles off on the Chatham Main Line, is the nearest now, and the 489 bus ties the village to Gravesend, Longfield and New Ash Green. That only matters to us in that everything arrives by road, so the van brings its own heated tank and its own water, and the racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to it while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products. The price is fixed on the phone with no premium-area surcharge, and adding a hob in a Betsham kitchen to the booking is £23–28.

Near enough to the door to carry racks and trays out to it. On a lane with no kerb that is usually the drive or the verge, and it is worth saying which when you book.
Can you clean a range cooker or an AGA?
Yes. A 90cm range is £114 and a two-oven AGA is £143. Both are quoted before we come, not after we look.
Do you work at weekends?

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
