South Ruislip station opened on 1 May 1908 as Northolt Junction, became South Ruislip and Northolt Junction in 1932 and took its present name in 1947; the airfield nearby kept the old name and is still RAF Northolt.
1930s semis and the council's post-war houses
The Victoria County History, written in the 1960s, found almost no buildings here older than the 20th century and many compact semi-detached houses of a standard 1930s type, with no shopping centre to match Ruislip High Street. New flats on the old dairy site
On Victoria Road near the station, the former Arla Food Depot became The Old Dairy, with a supermarket, a cinema and restaurants, and homes at Arla Place. In February 2016 an application to raise the number of homes there from 132 to 163, nearly all one- and two-bedroom flats, went to Hillingdon's planning committee, which approved it.
Those flats show in the numbers. In the Census area that takes in Arla Place and this end of Victoria Road (Hillingdon 033B), 53.9% of the 989 households lived in a purpose-built block in 2021 and 33.7% rented privately, compared with 22.9% across the ward.
Does a self-cleaning oven still need cleaning?
If your built-in oven is pyrolytic, the empty oven heats itself high enough to turn spills to ash. The racks and runners normally come out before the cycle, so they stay dirty, and the glass between the door panes is not reached by it. Permit streets round the station
Hillingdon's March 2026 map of parking management schemes shades a wide block of streets south of South Ruislip station and more to the north-east, with Stop & Shop bays at the station itself.
