South Kenton station opened on 3 July 1933, between The Link on the Sudbury Court Estate and Windermere Grove on the Preston side. South Kenton is the area round the station, a different place from Kenton, whose own station is about 1.4km north; South Kenton lies wholly in Brent and runs into North Wembley and Preston.
The Lake District roads east of the station
East of the line the streets share their names with Lake District lakes and waters: Windermere Avenue, Coniston Gardens, Derwent Gardens, Rydal Gardens, Grasmere Avenue and Thirlmere Gardens, all in Brent's Preston ward. The Windermere pub on Windermere Avenue went up around 1938, probably to a design by a Courage brewery staff architect, in a Dutch style mixed with Art Deco. Historic England listed it at Grade II on 15 May 2003 as an uncommonly good survival of a 1930s suburban pub, with three bars inside and a tiled fireplace showing windmills.
Most of the housing round it is from the 1930s too, and most of it is semis. The 2021 Census splits the streets into small areas of about 460 households each. In the one that includes Windermere Avenue, Coniston Gardens, Rydal Gardens and Derwent Gardens (Brent 007A), 73.4% of households lived in a semi; in the one that includes Windermere Grove and Thirlmere Gardens (Brent 007C), 76.5% did.
A 1930s semi usually has a small kitchen at the back. Where it has been extended, the cooker may now be a built-in double or a 90cm range, so tell us which when you ring: a double takes about two hours and a range two to three.
Rented semis near the station
In the Windermere Grove area, 34.6% of households rented privately in 2021 and another 34.8% owned outright. With a third of homes let privately, the oven is a usual item on an inventory clerk's checklist when a tenancy ends.

Wembley event days on the east side of the line
None of these streets is in a controlled parking zone on Brent's map, so outside stadium event days there are no zone permit hours. Wembley Stadium event days are different. Brent's map puts Windermere Avenue, the lake-named gardens and Windermere Grove inside the Wembley event day zone, while The Link, across the railway on the Sudbury Court side, falls just outside it.
Inside the zone, only residents and businesses with an event day permit may park on event days, generally from 10am to midnight on residential streets outside controlled zones. A household there can buy up to two paper visitor permits, each valid for three years, for visitors to park where parking is allowed. If the street is in the zone, the simplest answer is a day with no event.

Yes. It is inside the event day zone, so on an event day only residents and businesses with an event day permit may park there. Brent publishes the future event dates, so pick a day with no event.
My tenancy on Thirlmere Gardens ends next week. Will the oven be ready for the inventory clerk?
The oven is reassembled and heated before we leave, and you look inside it first; the racks and trays will have been soaked and cleaned separately and the door glass cleaned by hand.
Can you do the hob as well?
