Oven cleaning in South Ealing, W5, from South Ealing Road to the terraces off Windermere Road and Temple Road. Single ovens from £77, fixed on the phone.
South Ealing station opened on 1 May 1883 as a District Railway stop, took Piccadilly trains from 9 January 1933 and lost its District service in 1964, which leaves four platforms in zone 3 with Piccadilly trains running between Northfields and Acton Town. The building was replaced in 1983 and refurbished in 2006. There is still no step-free route from platform to street.
The zone splits on a Saturday
Zone S covers about twenty W5 streets, among them Alacross Road, Dorset Road, Gloucester Road, Venetia Road, Windermere Road and South Ealing Road itself. Controls run Monday to Friday from 10am to 7.30pm, and then Saturday breaks in two: the northside runs 10am to 4pm while the southside stops at 1pm. Same zone letter, different afternoons. Finding the space is our job, not yours.
Period conversions set the kitchen
Ealing has 30 conservation areas, mostly nineteenth and early twentieth century residential development, and a good deal of the stock around here is Victorian and Edwardian terrace. Houses of that age were never built with a fitted kitchen, so whatever is in them now arrived in a later refit: usually one oven under the worktop at £77, sometimes two cavities in a tall unit at £110. Where a house has been split into flats, each flat has its own oven and gets the same figure off the price list.
Nothing caustic crosses the threshold
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and soak in the heated tank in the van, which counts for something in a converted house where the kitchen sits at the back of a shared hallway. Cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. The price is fixed on the phone with no premium-area surcharge.

Is the thing about the vowels true?
Partly. Two Underground stations contain all five vowels, South Ealing and Mansion House, but South Ealing is the only one that uses each vowel exactly once. It has no bearing on your oven.
Which streets fall in Zone S?
Around twenty, including Airedale Road, Cherry Close, Creighton Road, Durham Road, Netherbury Road, Sunderland Road, Temple Road and Weymouth Avenue. A searchable map on the council site takes an address or street name.
Do I need to be in for the whole visit?
Someone has to let us in and be about at the end for the heat test and sign-off. A single runs to about ninety minutes, a double nearer two hours.

Reviews from our rounds
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
