The mill the village grew up around was built in 1820 by Henry Hall, ran first as a flour mill, then turned over to paper good enough for magazines and plans. It stopped in February 2003. The boiler-house chimney, which went up in 1881 and had another 70 ft of circular stock added to it in 1918, is Grade II listed, and it is still what people point at when they describe where they live rather than a road name.
The works became houses
Much of the site has been redeveloped for homes since the paper stopped, and a Co-op Food trades out of one of the surviving mill buildings. That kind of stock, new-build and conversion, tends to mean an integrated single fan oven under the counter with a separate hob above it and a hood over that. Farningham Road station is not in Farningham
It sits in Sutton-at-Hone, a mile off, and serves Farningham, Sutton-at-Hone, Horton Kirby and South Darenth between them. It opened on 3 December 1860 on the Chatham Main Line, 20 miles 41 chains out of Victoria, and the ten-arch viaduct beside it was built in 1859-60 to a Joseph Cubitt design. Trains to town from a village of a few thousand people is what keeps the letting churn going here, and the end-of-tenancy oven work along with it.

Where does the soaking happen?
In a heated tank in the van. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and go outside to soak, so the tank never comes through your front door.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
My cooker is freestanding, not built in. Does that change the price?
No. Price follows what the oven is, single, double, 90cm range or AGA, not how it is fitted.
