Silver Street is a real road in Edmonton, about 1,123 metres of it, maintained by Enfield Council, and it carries postcodes from N18 1ND through to N18 1RP. It is also a station, and the two get confused constantly, so it is worth saying plainly which is which before we talk about kitchens.

Silver Street station opened on 22 July 1872 on the Stoke Newington and Edmonton Railway. It sits in Zone 4 on a long straight run of elevated track, two platforms, now served by London Overground. The street name itself is recorded as far back as around 1630 and may point to silversmiths who lived here.
A third owned, a third private rented, a third social
That split is the thing worth knowing about this patch. Around N18 1PL the tenure runs roughly 35 per cent owner-occupied, 32 per cent private rented and 32 per cent social rented, a higher share of social housing than the London average, and terraced and semi-detached houses predominate with a large number of flats on top. Fore Street runs alongside and is in trouble
Fore Street, the historic road north out of London, was designated a conservation area in 2002 and is on the Heritage at Risk register in very bad condition with a deteriorating trend. There should not be. The soaking is done in the van and the indoor work uses non-caustic products on the cavity, fan cover and door glass.
